A busy Saturday for Día

6th-diapaloozaMany places across the country have Día celebrations planned for tomorrow, Saturday April 25th. Here are just a few:

The Santa Ana Public Library (CA) will hold their 7th annual celebration tomorrow with free books, entertainment, a book sale and a resource fair. Download the flyer.

Matrix Human Services of Detroit, Michigan is holding their Día celebration in Clark Park. Their mission is to advocate for and serve the most vulnerable in the metropolitan Detroit community and to empower individuals and families to enhance the quality of their lives and achieve self sufficiency.

The Boone County Public Library in Northern Kentucky is taking their Día celebration on the road. On Saturday, April 25, the library’s Community Center on Wheels is rolling out their Día on the Lawn Program to Green Lawn Mobile Home Park, which is home to many Hispanic families in Boone County, Kentucky. The Boone County Community Center on Wheels is a custom-built, two-room bus equipped with a classroom to support on-board instruction, computers for access to educational software and the Internet, and resource materials for children and adults.

Greetings for Earth Day

I was born in El Paso, Texas, a city in the Chihuahua Desert. I love deserts which is why I’ve written four children’s books set in deserts:
Earth Day 2015Perhaps because water is scarce in deserts, I am fascinated by water and enjoyed writing my most recent book, a bilingual book about the movement of water all over our planet:
Water Rolls Water RisesLet’s savor and protect our beautiful earth and encourage children to enjoy the fun of playing outdoors.
