The Texas Book Festival’s Reading Rock Stars

Pat Mora

The Texas Book Festival brings books to life for young readers through Reading Rock Stars, a dynamic program in which selected authors from across the country are invited to present their works to students in economically-disadvantaged public schools. At the end of the presentations, each child receives an autographed copy of the book, and a set of books is also given to the school library.
Pat and Libby at Ortega School for the Reading Rock Stars programPat & her daughter Libby had a wonderful time at their 2014 Reading Rock Stars visit to Ortega School in Austin Texas as part of the Texas Book Festival. The art teacher had students create art projects connected to books such as Pablo’s Tree. Students also created self-portraits after studying the art in I Pledge Allegiance.
