Pat Mora

Is spring finally arriving? Yesterday, I enjoyed the pleasure of taking family to our Farmer’s Market. Such bright colors certainly lift our spirits. Enjoy!

Read to Your Grandchildren

Pat Mora

Día’s 20th anniversary year celebration continues with two new videos featuring grandparents and grandchildren in Santa Clara Pueblo, NM. The videos were created by Día Dynamos Christine Vasquez, a retired librarian and Thom Eberhardt, a retired filmmaker and screenwriter. Librarian Elizabeth Martinez assisted. As Sky City Productions, they created and filmed these spots to assist in promoting Día’s 20th Anniversary nationally. How generous of them to donate their creative talents for all of us to share!

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Pat Mora

colorinChildren’s Day, Book Day or Día is a year-long commitment to linking children and families of ALL cultures to books.

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and Día partner ¡Colorín Colorado! has put together a web page that celebrates family traditions and the rich diversity of Asian and Pacific Americans with books, activities, and a variety of resources and ideas for ELL educators.

To help in planning your own many-cultured celebrations, the Día Planning Booklet has a section called Día’s Full Name in Different Languages.

Don’t forget to bring some audiobooks

Pat Mora

Spring is a busy time for families as everyone leaves the lethargy of winter behind: sports practice, school Field Days, weekend picnics, long holiday weekends. Why not use the extra car time to listen to some audiobooks?
